7,100 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 7,100 bed nights (+37.8 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kokkola in December 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 76 % and non-registered 24 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 123,000 (+15.6 %). Share of registered was 85 % and non-registered 15 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 41 percent
In December 2021, 5,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Kokkola (+40.7 %), of which 4,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 620 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 32 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 192 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 41 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Austria (100 nights).
2,900 nights (+84.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,500 nights (+10.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 99,000 registered bed nights (+17.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,900 (-7.1 %) for foreigners in Kokkola, in total 104,000 (+15.7 %) registered nights.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. In Kokkola, length of stay in December was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-5.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kokkola on average 1.5 nights (-2.5 %) and foreigners 4.9 nights (-20.3 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 65 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.1 percent were domestic, and 3.9 percent were from foreign countries.

Total accommodation sales in December were 391,000 euro (+127,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 7.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 362,000 euro (+121,000) and non-registered sales 28,500 euro (+5,500).
Total January-December sales were 6.1 million euro and they increased 592,000 euro from the previous year.
