Kolari: Tourism in a nutshell
69,200 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 69,200 bed nights were recorded in Kolari (-6.0 %), of which 44,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased nine percent and foreign bed nights increased one percent. In total, bed nights decreased six percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Switzerland (5,200 nights).
66,800 nights (-8.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,400 nights (+448.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 70,000 bed nights (-7.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 98,300 (-2.0 %) for foreigners in Kolari, in total 168,000 (-4.5 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Kolari out of total bed nights was 3.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.4 % and foreign bed nights 4.4 %.
13,100 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 68.9 percent were domestic, and 31.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kolari on average 4.9 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 6.1 nights (+0.11).

Total accommodation sales in March were 4.5 million euro (+124,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 25.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.5 million euro (+4,900) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 914,000 euro (+119,000).
Total January-March sales were 9.8 million euro and they decreased 625,000 euro from the previous year.
