Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In January 2018, 46,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kolari (+7.3 %), of which 9,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 36,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased six percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's January.

46,100 nights (+8.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 230 nights (-68.4 %) by business visitors.

Market share 3.0 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 856,000 nights (+0.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 671,000 nights (+7.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kolari out of total registered bed nights was 3.0 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 5.4 %.

Market share in Lapland 14.1 percent

Total of 328,000 registered bed nights (+5.8 %) were recorded in Lapland, of which 73,700 nights (+3.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 254,000 nights (+6.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kolari out of total registered bed nights in Lapland was 14.1 %, out of domestic bed nights 13.3 % and foreign bed nights 14.4 %.

7,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 27.9 percent were domestic, and 72.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kolari on average 4.8 nights (-0.43) and foreigners 6.8 nights (+0.54).

Accommodation sales 2.3 million euro

Total accommodation sales in January were 2.3 million euro (+660,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 28.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.7 million euro (+47,800) and non-registered sales 659,000 euro (+612,000).
