Registered bed nights increased two percent

In January 2019, 8,500 bed nights were recorded in Kotka-Hamina Region (+2.3 %), of which 4,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased nine percent and foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, bed nights increased two percent from last year's January.

52 nights (-98.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 48 nights (-99.0 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kotka-Hamina Region out of total bed nights was 0.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

4,300 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 60.2 percent were domestic, and 39.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kotka-Hamina Region on average 1.8 nights (+0.31) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.61).

262,000 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 262,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 80.1 percent.
