Registered bed nights increased two percent
In January 2019, 8,500 bed nights were recorded in Kotka-Hamina Region (+2.3 %), of which 4,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased nine percent and foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, bed nights increased two percent from last year's January.
52 nights (-98.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 48 nights (-99.0 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.5 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Kotka-Hamina Region out of total bed nights was 0.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

A total of 262,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 34,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 82.2 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
