Registered bed nights increased four percent

In December 2019, 7,700 bed nights were recorded in Kotka-Hamina Region (+4.1 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 13 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 12 percent. In total, bed nights increased four percent from last year's December.

Between January and December, 113,000 bed nights (+9.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 40,600 (-9.3 %) for foreigners in Kotka-Hamina Region, in total 154,000 (+3.9 %) nights.

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+0.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 986,000 nights (+2.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (-0.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kotka-Hamina Region out of total bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

4,800 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 18 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 72.4 percent were domestic, and 27.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kotka-Hamina Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.42).

A total of 311,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Registered accommodation sales in December were 453,000 euro (-11,900).

Registered January-December sales were 9.0 million euro and they decreased 171,000 euro from the previous year.
