Registered bed nights increased three percent (August)

In August 2021, 16,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Kotka (+3.0 %), of which 16,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 780 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 11 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's August.

11,000 nights (+19.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,900 nights (-18.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 72,500 registered bed nights (+12.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,700 (-55.5 %) for foreigners in Kotka, in total 76,200 (+5.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.8 percent (August)

Total of 2.1 million registered bed nights (+23.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+17.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 264,000 nights (+77.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kotka out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.2 percent were domestic, and 3.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kotka on average 1.8 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.03).

A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
