Registered bed nights increased 28 percent (May)

In May 2021, 5,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Kotka (+27.9 %), of which 5,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 320 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 28 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 27 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 28 percent from last year's May.

3,800 nights (+44.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (+5.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 18,400 registered bed nights (+3.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,800 (-70.0 %) for foreigners in Kotka, in total 20,200 (-14.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.7 percent (May)

Total of 850,000 registered bed nights (+183.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 779,000 nights (+177.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 71,600 nights (+266.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kotka out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

3,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (May)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 61 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.7 percent were domestic, and 3.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kotka on average 1.8 nights (-0.48) and foreigners 2.9 nights (+0.29).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 43 percent

A total of 29,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 69.4 percent.
