9,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 9,000 bed nights (+41.8 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kotka in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 69 % and non-registered 31 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 150,000 (+9.9 %). Share of registered was 75 % and non-registered 25 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 43 percent
In December 2022, 6,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Kotka (+43.4 %), of which 5,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 530 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 41 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 68 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 43 percent from last year's December.
3,000 nights (+17.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,300 nights (+78.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 102,000 registered bed nights (+3.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,100 (+87.7 %) for foreigners in Kotka, in total 113,000 (+8.4 %) registered nights.

3,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.8 percent were domestic, and 6.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kotka on average 1.8 nights (+0.26) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.18).
Domestic visitor days increased by 3 percent
In December 2022, 123,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Kotka (+2.9 %). Registered nights by domestic visitors equaled 31,700 (+4.0 %).
Between January and December, 1.6 million domestic visitor days were recorded in Kotka (-5.6 %). Registered nights by domestic visitors equaled 371,000 (-1.3 %).
The number of visitor days means the total number of days spent by domestic tourists in the area. The tourist must stay in the area for at least half an hour to be counted. They are also not counted in the statistics if they visit the area regularly.

A total of 33,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 508,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 508,000 euro (+131,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 17.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 417,000 euro (+111,000) and non-registered sales 91,200 euro (+20,200).
Total January-December sales were 9.4 million euro and they increased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
