Registered bed nights increased one percent (April)

In April 2023, 8,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (+0.5 %), of which 7,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 610 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's April.

3,900 nights (-19.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,500 nights (+29.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 25,100 registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,700 (+53.7 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 27,700 (+8.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (-3.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-7.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 261,000 nights (+20.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kouvola out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

5,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (April)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.5 percent were domestic, and 5.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.5 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.54).

A total of 34,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 823,000 euro (April)

Total accommodation sales in April were 823,000 euro (+237,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 16.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 685,000 euro (+207,000) and non-registered sales 138,000 euro (+30,100).

Total January-April sales were 2.7 million euro and they increased 707,000 euro from the previous year.
