Kouvola: Tourism in a nutshell
4,900 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2020, 4,900 bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (-45.4 %), of which 4,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 430 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 44 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 57 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 45 percent from last year's November.
1,700 nights (-54.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,200 nights (-39.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 81,400 bed nights (-36.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,200 (-59.5 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 88,600 (-38.9 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

3,200 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 49 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.8 percent were domestic, and 6.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.5 nights (+0.1) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.19).

25,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 25,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Foreign visitors and their consumption (November)
The number of foreign visitors in November was 3,500 (-61.2 %). Out of them 2,700 were on a daytrip and 810 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and November was 41,900 (-65.7 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Kouvola in November was 479,000 euro (138 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 135,000 euro and day visitors 344,000 euro. Between January and November the consumption was 5.8 million euro.
