Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In December 2022, 5,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (+9.2 %), of which 5,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 280 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's December.

3,200 nights (+23.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,300 nights (-5.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 125,000 registered bed nights (+6.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,600 (+45.3 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 135,000 (+8.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 731,000 nights (+23.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kouvola out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.0 %.

4,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.3 percent were domestic, and 3.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.3 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.55).

A total of 33,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Total accommodation sales in December were 519,000 euro (+45,400). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 22.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 404,000 euro (+50,200) and non-registered sales 115,000 euro (-4,800).

Total January-December sales were 10.1 million euro and they increased 1.5 million euro from the previous year.
