5,000 registered bed nights (February)

In February 2021, 5,000 bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (-17.9 %), of which 4,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 480 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 16 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 31 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 18 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (107 nights).

1,800 nights (-35.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,200 nights (-3.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 7,800 bed nights (-25.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 900 (-57.7 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 8,700 (-30.6 %) nights.

Total of 902,000 bed nights (-51.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 842,000 nights (-32.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 59,500 nights (-90.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kouvola out of total bed nights was 0.6 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

2,900 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 33 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 91.2 percent were domestic, and 8.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.7 nights (+0.34) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.18).

A total of 22,700 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Foreign visitors and their consumption (February)

The number of foreign visitors in February was 3,700 (-37.8 %). Out of them 2,900 were on a daytrip and 860 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and February was 4,900 (-73.1 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Kouvola in February was 513,000 euro (138 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 143,000 euro and day visitors 370,000 euro. Between January and February the consumption was 675,000 euro.

Accommodation sales 466,000 euro (February)

Total accommodation sales in February were 466,000 euro (-13,900). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 25.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 348,000 euro (-63,700) and non-registered sales 118,000 euro (+49,800).

Total January-February sales were 859,000 euro and they decreased 158,000 euro from the previous year.
