6,000 registered bed nights

In December 2018, 6,000 bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (-5.8 %), of which 5,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 880 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and foreign bed nights increased 35 percent. In total, bed nights decreased six percent from last year's December.

3,600 nights (+14.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,500 nights (-24.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 120,000 bed nights (-0.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,500 (-19.6 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 135,000 (-2.8 %) nights.

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 967,000 nights (-0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 789,000 nights (+7.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kouvola out of total bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

4,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 86.6 percent were domestic, and 13.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.5 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+0.05).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased four percent

A total of 331,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 64,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 73.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 325,000 euro

Registered accommodation sales in December were 325,000 euro (-16,700).

Registered January-December sales were 6.7 million euro and they decreased 201,000 euro from the previous year.
