9,700 registered bed nights
In September 2020, 9,700 bed nights were recorded in Kouvola (-16.0 %), of which 9,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 630 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 11 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 54 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's September.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (177 nights).
5,600 nights (-13.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,100 nights (-18.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 69,700 bed nights (-37.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,300 (-59.3 %) for foreigners in Kouvola, in total 76,000 (-39.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.7 percent were domestic, and 3.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kouvola on average 1.6 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+1.2).

A total of 23,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 610 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 60.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in September was 2,700 (-71.2 %). Out of them 1,900 were on a daytrip and 790 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and September was 36,000 (-64.9 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Kouvola in September was 379,000 euro (140 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 133,000 euro and day visitors 246,000 euro. Between January and September the consumption was 5.0 million euro.

Accommodation sales 741,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in September were 741,000 euro (-45,300). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 4.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 562,000 euro (-80,500) and non-registered sales 31,800 euro (-60,000).
Total January-September sales were 5.3 million euro and they decreased 2.3 million euro from the previous year.
