32,300 registered bed nights (June)

In June 2020, 32,300 bed nights were recorded in Kuopio (-39.6 %), of which 31,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 680 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 34 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 87 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 40 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (110 nights).

25,900 nights (-34.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,400 nights (-53.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 144,000 bed nights (-37.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,300 (-51.3 %) for foreigners in Kuopio, in total 160,000 (-39.6 %) nights.

Total of 1.1 million bed nights (-52.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.0 million nights (-37.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 44,300 nights (-92.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kuopio out of total bed nights was 3.0 % (+0.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.0 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

19,400 tourists arrived to accommodation (June)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 40 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.7 percent were domestic, and 1.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kuopio on average 1.6 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+1.2).

2,100 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests increased six percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 35 congresses organized (+2.0) in 2019.

1,400 air travelers

The airport received a total of 1,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 75 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.3 %.

In addition, there were 1,200 passengers departing the airport (-76.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,600 (-75.8 %).

A total of 20,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 2.3 million euro (June)

Total accommodation sales in June were 2.3 million euro (-1.1 million). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 36.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.5 million euro (-1.5 million) and non-registered sales 858,000 euro (+444,000).

Total January-June sales were 13.5 million euro and they decreased 4.7 million euro from the previous year.
