In December 2020, 22,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Kuopio (-37.4 %), of which 22,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 290 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 32 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 91 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 37 percent from last year's December.
16,800 nights (-37.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,100 nights (-37.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 388,000 registered bed nights (-20.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 20,900 (-63.4 %) for foreigners in Kuopio, in total 409,000 (-25.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

13,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 38 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 99.0 percent were domestic, and 1.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kuopio on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.24).

The airport received a total of 780 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 91 percent.
Of local passengers, 0.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.7 %.

25,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 25,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Registered accommodation sales in December were 1.2 million euro (-796,000).
Registered January-December sales were 21.7 million euro and they decreased 10.1 million euro from the previous year.
