Registered bed nights increased five percent
In December 2017, 38,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Kuopio (+4.6 %), of which 35,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 13 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's December.
27,000 nights (+3.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,200 nights (+6.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 487,000 registered bed nights (-1.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 55,100 (-6.4 %) for foreigners in Kuopio, in total 542,000 (-1.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Kuopio, length of stay in December was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+0.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kuopio on average 1.6 nights (-1.5 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-5.2 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.5 percent were domestic, and 6.5 percent were from foreign countries.
