140,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 140,000 bed nights (-3.5 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Kuusamo in March 2019. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 58 % and non-registered 42 %.
Between January and March, the number of paid bed nights was 332,000 (-11.5 %). Share of registered was 63 % and non-registered 37 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.

81,500 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 81,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Kuusamo (-8.8 %), of which 67,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased nine percent from last year's March.
73,600 nights (-0.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,900 nights (-48.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 141,000 registered bed nights (-8.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 68,700 (+2.8 %) for foreigners in Kuusamo, in total 210,000 (-5.2 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased two percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. In Kuusamo, length of stay in March was on average 3.5 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-2.4 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kuusamo on average 3.4 nights (+1.7 %) and foreigners 4.2 nights (+5.7 %).
23,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.0 percent were domestic, and 15.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kuusamo on average 3.4 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 4.2 nights (+0.15).

The airport received a total of 8,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 10 percent.
Of local passengers, 17.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 82.8 %.

Accommodation sales 5.3 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 5.3 million euro (+573,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 30.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.7 million euro (+170,000) and non-registered sales 1.6 million euro (+403,000).
Total January-March sales were 12.5 million euro and they increased 847,000 euro from the previous year.
