Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
17,900 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2019, 17,900 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-12.7 %), of which 14,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased eight percent and foreign bed nights decreased 26 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 13 percent from last year's November.
Between January and November, 235,000 bed nights (+10.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 55,900 (-1.8 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 291,000 (+7.7 %) nights.
7,600 nights (-16.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,200 nights (-9.4 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+4.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 453,000 nights (+3.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Kymenlaakso out of total bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.
11,900 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 82.6 percent were domestic, and 17.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.4 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.39).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 14 percent (November)
A total of 320,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 82.3 percent.

There was a total of 55,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 76.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.3 million euro (November)
Registered accommodation sales in November were 1.3 million euro (-137,000).
Registered January-November sales were 16.2 million euro and they increased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
