Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
11,600 registered bed nights (November)
In November 2020, 11,600 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-35.8 %), of which 9,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 32 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 51 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 36 percent from last year's November.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (500 nights).
4,700 nights (-38.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,000 nights (-33.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and November, 188,000 bed nights (-19.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 22,200 (-60.3 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 210,000 (-27.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

6,800 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 43 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.9 percent were domestic, and 6.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.5 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 4.7 nights (+2.8).

25,000 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 25,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Foreign visitors and their consumption (November)
The number of foreign visitors in November was 7,400 (-79.9 %). Out of them 5,600 were on a daytrip and 1,700 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and November was 123,000 (-65.9 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Kymenlaakso in November was 1.0 million euro (138 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 286,000 euro and day visitors 729,000 euro. Between January and November the consumption was 17.0 million euro.
