Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
13,900 registered bed nights (February)
In February 2020, 13,900 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-6.6 %), of which 11,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased six percent and foreign bed nights decreased 10 percent. In total, bed nights decreased seven percent from last year's February.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (910 nights).
6,200 nights (-12.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,700 nights (-1.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 21,000 bed nights (-7.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,700 (-7.7 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 28,700 (-7.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 613,000 nights (+1.9 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Kymenlaakso out of total bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.
9,200 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 84.5 percent were domestic, and 15.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.4 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.17).

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in February were 948,000 euro (-32,500).
Registered January-February sales were 1.9 million euro and they decreased 62,500 euro from the previous year.
