Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In December 2022, 12,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (+22.7 %), of which 11,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 910 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 25 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (154 nights).

6,400 nights (+21.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,200 nights (+24.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 248,000 registered bed nights (+5.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 26,100 (+72.5 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 274,000 (+9.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 731,000 nights (+23.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kymenlaakso out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.9 percent were domestic, and 5.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.5 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.19).
