Registered bed nights increased 53 percent

In May 2022, 23,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (+53.1 %), of which 20,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 46 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 156 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 53 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (400 nights).

13,700 nights (+44.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 9,600 nights (+67.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 62,600 registered bed nights (+39.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,500 (+71.3 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 70,100 (+42.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.5 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Kymenlaakso out of total registered bed nights was 1.5 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

13,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 59 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.4 percent were domestic, and 7.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.6 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.8).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent

A total of 32,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 76.2 percent.
