Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
23,800 registered bed nights
In September 2019, 23,800 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-4.8 %), of which 19,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased one percent and foreign bed nights decreased 18 percent. In total, bed nights decreased five percent from last year's September.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,400 nights).
12,400 nights (-2.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,400 nights (-7.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 205,000 bed nights (+12.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 48,100 (+0.7 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 253,000 (+9.9 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

14,200 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 84.3 percent were domestic, and 15.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.6 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.15).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased six percent
A total of 251,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.4 percent.

There was a total of 69,800 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 87.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in September were 1.5 million euro (-116,000).
Registered January-September sales were 13.6 million euro and they increased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
