Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
4,300 registered bed nights
In April 2020, 4,300 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-75.1 %), of which 4,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 70 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 94 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 75 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (63 nights).
1,700 nights (-80.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,600 nights (-70.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 32,100 bed nights (-32.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,400 (-39.0 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 41,600 (-34.3 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

2,000 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 81 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.1 percent were domestic, and 3.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 2.1 nights (+0.52) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.66).

20,100 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 20,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 63.1 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 29 percent (February)
There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 282,000 euro
Registered accommodation sales in April were 282,000 euro (-769,000).
Registered January-April sales were 2.9 million euro and they decreased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
