Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
8,800 registered bed nights
In May 2020, 8,800 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-70.4 %), of which 8,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 510 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 66 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 91 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 70 percent from last year's May.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (170 nights).
4,400 nights (-68.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,400 nights (-72.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 40,400 bed nights (-43.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,900 (-52.7 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 50,400 (-45.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 72 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 95.9 percent were domestic, and 4.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 2.1 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+0.76).

19,400 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 19,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 66.8 percent.

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 456,000 euro
Registered accommodation sales in May were 456,000 euro (-1.3 million).
Registered January-May sales were 3.3 million euro and they decreased 2.5 million euro from the previous year.
