Kymenlaakso: Tourism in a nutshell
32,700 registered bed nights
In August 2020, 32,700 bed nights were recorded in Kymenlaakso (-23.2 %), of which 29,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 65 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 23 percent from last year's August.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (660 nights).
20,700 nights (-27.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,000 nights (-13.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 142,000 bed nights (-23.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,800 (-61.7 %) for foreigners in Kymenlaakso, in total 159,000 (-30.4 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 94.0 percent were domestic, and 6.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Kymenlaakso on average 1.7 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.5).

There was a total of 51,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in August were 1.9 million euro (-362,000).
Registered January-August sales were 8.4 million euro and they decreased 3.7 million euro from the previous year.
