51,800 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 51,800 bed nights (+53.4 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Lahti in August 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 58 % and non-registered 42 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 268,000 (+22.2 %). Share of registered was 71 % and non-registered 29 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased eight percent
In August 2023, 30,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Lahti (+7.9 %), of which 21,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 34 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's August.
13,100 nights (+27.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,100 nights (-3.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 149,000 registered bed nights (-2.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 41,800 (+26.8 %) for foreigners in Lahti, in total 190,000 (+2.8 %) registered nights.

Paid bed nights forecast, Lahti
In September 2023, the number of bed nights in paid accommodation is expected to increase by 4.9 % compared to the previous year.
The number of bed nights is expected to increase by 1.8 % in the next six months compared to the previous year.
The forecast is based on a time series model (SARIMA), which is supplemented with exogenous (external) explanatory variables.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 81.9 percent were domestic, and 18.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lahti on average 1.8 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 3.4 nights (+1.1).

Accommodation sales 4.4 million euro
Total accommodation sales in August were 4.4 million euro (+2.6 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 53.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.0 million euro (+469,000) and non-registered sales 2.3 million euro (+2.2 million).
Total January-August sales were 17.6 million euro and they increased 5.9 million euro from the previous year.
