Lahti: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 13 percent
In January 2019, 24,200 bed nights were recorded in Lahti (+13.1 %), of which 16,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased five percent and foreign bed nights increased 33 percent. In total, bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's January.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,400 nights).
7,400 nights (+1.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,800 nights (+19.2 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Market share 1.6 percent
Total of 1.5 million bed nights (+1.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 869,000 nights (+1.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 675,000 nights (+0.6 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Lahti out of total bed nights was 1.6 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.
11,400 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 78.8 percent were domestic, and 21.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lahti on average 1.8 nights (+0.28) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.62).
1,700 international congress guests in 2018
The number of international congress quests increased 92 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 12 congresses organized (-5.0) in 2018.

Accommodation sales 1.4 million euro
Total accommodation sales in January were 1.4 million euro (+172,000). The share of Airbnb was 9.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.3 million euro (+148,000) and Airbnb sales 125,000 euro (+23,900).
