Lahti: Tourism in a nutshell
23,100 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 23,100 bed nights were recorded in Lahti (-7.8 %), of which 18,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased less than one percent and foreign bed nights decreased 30 percent. In total, bed nights decreased eight percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (550 nights).
6,600 nights (-24.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,400 nights (+1.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 52,300 bed nights (+7.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 18,500 (+3.1 %) for foreigners in Lahti, in total 70,800 (+6.5 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of Lahti out of total bed nights was 1.2 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.
12,700 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.9 percent were domestic, and 14.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lahti on average 1.7 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-0.32).
2,300 international congress guests in 2019
The number of international congress quests increased 34 percent from the previous year.
There was a total of 19 congresses organized (+7.0) in 2019.

Accommodation sales 1.5 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 1.5 million euro (-188,000). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 10.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.4 million euro (-177,000) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 140,000 euro (-10,900).
Total January-March sales were 4.5 million euro and they increased 230,000 euro from the previous year.
