Registered bed nights increased 33 percent

In August 2022, 28,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Lahti (+33.3 %), of which 21,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 370 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 33 percent from last year's August.

10,300 nights (+19.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,700 nights (+43.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 152,000 registered bed nights (+49.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 32,900 (+171.2 %) for foreigners in Lahti, in total 185,000 (+62.7 %) registered nights.

In September 2022, the number of bed nights in paid accommodation is expected to decrease by 8.6 % compared to the previous year.

The number of bed nights is expected to increase by 22.7 % in the next six months compared to the previous year.

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (-1.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 561,000 nights (+114.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lahti out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

14,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 80.1 percent were domestic, and 19.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lahti on average 1.9 nights (+0.2) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.41).

Accommodation sales 1.8 million euro

Total accommodation sales in August were 1.8 million euro (+484,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 10.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.6 million euro (+490,000) and non-registered sales 189,000 euro (-5,400).

Total January-August sales were 11.7 million euro and they increased 4.3 million euro from the previous year.
