77,100 registered bed nights (November)

In November 2020, 77,100 bed nights were recorded in Lapland (-56.3 %), of which 67,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 20 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 90 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 56 percent from last year's November.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (3,600 nights).

46,200 nights (-59.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 30,800 nights (-49.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and November, 1.1 million bed nights (-17.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 766,000 (-37.2 %) for foreigners in Lapland, in total 1.9 million (-26.7 %) nights.

Market share 9.5 percent (November)

Total of 815,000 bed nights (-47.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 728,000 nights (-34.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 87,200 nights (-80.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lapland out of total bed nights was 9.5 % (-1.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 9.3 % and foreign bed nights 10.6 %.

25,300 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 66 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.2 percent were domestic, and 6.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lapland on average 2.9 nights (+0.64) and foreigners 5.4 nights (+2.9).

2,800 air travelers (Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 2,800 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 92 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 99.3 %.

In addition, there were 2,200 passengers departing the airport (-92.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 5,000 (-92.4 %).
