Registered bed nights increased 26 percent (July)

In July 2021, 289,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Lapland (+26.2 %), of which 273,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 16,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 26 percent from last year's July.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (3,100 nights).

261,000 nights (+27.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 28,900 nights (+14.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 1.0 million registered bed nights (+55.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 59,800 (-91.8 %) for foreigners in Lapland, in total 1.1 million (-21.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+29.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+29.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 186,000 nights (+30.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lapland out of total registered bed nights was 8.7 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.7 % and foreign bed nights 9.0 %.

156,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (July)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.4 percent were domestic, and 6.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lapland on average 1.9 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.01).

The airport received a total of 1,000 passengers.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 990 passengers departing the airport, therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,000.
