Registered bed nights increased 770 percent (April)

In April 2021, 168,000 bed nights were recorded in Lapland (+768.2 %), of which 164,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 780 percent and foreign bed nights increased 530 percent. In total, bed nights increased 770 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (430 nights).

140,000 nights (+1,007.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 27,800 nights (+316.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 577,000 bed nights (+60.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 32,100 (-95.4 %) for foreigners in Lapland, in total 609,000 (-42.8 %) nights.

Market share 21.5 percent (April)

Total of 779,000 bed nights (+309.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 726,000 nights (+319.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 52,500 nights (+212.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lapland out of total bed nights was 21.5 % (+11.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 22.5 % and foreign bed nights 8.0 %.

49,200 tourists arrived to accommodation (April)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 1,100 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.0 percent were domestic, and 2.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lapland on average 3.4 nights (-1.2) and foreigners 4.4 nights (-1.6).

The airport received a total of 320 passengers.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 320 passengers departing the airport, therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 630.
