Registered bed nights increased eight percent (February)

In February 2020, 415,000 bed nights were recorded in Lapland (+7.7 %), of which 127,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 289,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, bed nights increased eight percent from last year's February.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (50,500 nights).

337,000 nights (+4.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 78,100 nights (+22.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 215,000 bed nights (+22.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 584,000 (+6.1 %) for foreigners in Lapland, in total 799,000 (+10.1 %) nights.

Market share 22.5 percent (February)

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 613,000 nights (+1.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lapland out of total bed nights was 22.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 10.3 % and foreign bed nights 47.1 %.

139,000 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 31.6 percent were domestic, and 68.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lapland on average 2.9 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+0.07).

The airport received a total of 420 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased five percent.

In addition, there were 730 passengers departing the airport (+37.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,200.
