Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In June 2019, 168,000 bed nights were recorded in Lapland (+13.9 %), of which 108,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 60,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and foreign bed nights increased 11 percent. In total, bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (18,000 nights).

132,000 nights (+10.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 36,500 nights (+26.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 729,000 bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 923,000 (+8.0 %) for foreigners in Lapland, in total 1.7 million (+5.3 %) nights.

Market share 7.3 percent

Total of 2.3 million bed nights (+6.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.7 million nights (+7.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 608,000 nights (+3.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lapland out of total bed nights was 7.3 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.4 % and foreign bed nights 9.9 %.

97,200 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 55.5 percent were domestic, and 44.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lapland on average 2.0 nights (+0.17) and foreigners 1.4 nights (+0.1).

2,500 air travelers (Ivalo)

The airport received a total of 2,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased three percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 2,300 passengers departing the airport (-0.8 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 4,800 (+1.2 %).

The airport received a total of 2,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased five percent.

The airport received a total of 16,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased seven percent.

Of local passengers, 2.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.0 %.
