Registered bed nights increased six percent

In January 2018, 32,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Lappeenranta (+5.7 %), of which 18,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 14,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (12,400 nights).

25,600 nights (+9.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,700 nights (-6.9 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 856,000 nights (+0.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 671,000 nights (+7.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lappeenranta out of total registered bed nights was 2.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 2.1 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Lappeenranta, length of stay in January was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.3 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lappeenranta on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 2.6 nights .

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 67.9 percent were domestic, and 32.1 percent were from foreign countries.
