In January 2020, 29,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Lappeenranta (-6.0 %), of which 16,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 13,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased six percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (12,300 nights).

19,200 nights (-12.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,400 nights (+9.9 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+8.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 957,000 nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 714,000 nights (+5.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lappeenranta out of total registered bed nights was 1.8 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 1.9 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Lappeenranta, length of stay in January was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.9 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lappeenranta on average 1.6 nights and foreigners 2.4 nights .

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 63.4 percent were domestic, and 36.6 percent were from foreign countries.
