7,200 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 7,200 bed nights were recorded in Lappeenranta (-79.7 %), of which 7,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 149 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 71 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 99 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 80 percent from last year's May.

4,700 nights (-78.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,400 nights (-81.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 66,400 bed nights (-43.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 23,600 (-48.3 %) for foreigners in Lappeenranta, in total 90,000 (-44.8 %) nights.

Total of 300,000 bed nights (-81.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 280,000 nights (-74.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 19,500 nights (-95.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Lappeenranta out of total bed nights was 2.4 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

2,900 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 85 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lappeenranta on average 2.5 nights (+0.63) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+0.68).

100 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests increased 186 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 7.0 congresses organized (+6.0) in 2019.

19,400 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 19,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Registered accommodation sales in May were 425,000 euro (-1.4 million).

Registered January-May sales were 4.8 million euro and they decreased 3.5 million euro from the previous year.
