Lieksa: Tourism in a nutshell
6,800 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 6,800 bed nights were recorded in Lieksa (-5.6 %), of which 5,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased six percent and foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, bed nights decreased six percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (930 nights).
6,200 nights (-4.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 630 nights (-15.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 14,300 bed nights (-5.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,600 (+16.1 %) for foreigners in Lieksa, in total 17,900 (-1.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

3,700 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 95 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 85.6 percent were domestic, and 14.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lieksa on average 1.8 nights (-2.2) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.91).

Total accommodation sales in March were 450,000 euro (-3,800). The share of Airbnb and HomeAway was 8.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 416,000 euro (+10,100) and Airbnb and HomeAway sales 33,900 euro (-13,900).
Total January-March sales were 1.2 million euro and they increased 69,600 euro from the previous year.
