Registered bed nights increased 280 percent (May)
In May 2021, 4,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (+278.4 %), of which 2,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 84 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 3,500 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 280 percent from last year's May.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (2,600 nights).
930 nights (+90.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (+398.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 9,600 registered bed nights (+49.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,000 (+330.2 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 13,600 (+85.4 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

930 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (May)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 183 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.0 percent were domestic, and 2.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 2.4 nights (-1.5) and foreigners 136 nights (+132).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 43 percent
A total of 29,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 370 percent
There was a total of 2,800 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 55.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (May)
The number of foreign visitors in May was -550 (-702.1 %). Out of them -470 were on a daytrip and -78 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and May was -1,700 (+83.3 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in May was 6,200 euro (-11 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 26,000 euro and day visitors -19,800 euro. Between January and May the consumption was 25,800 euro.
