Lovisa Region: Tourism in a nutshell

Registered bed nights increased 37 percent (March)
In March 2022, 2,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (+36.7 %), of which 2,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 320 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 22 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 690 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 37 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (310 nights).
790 nights (+3.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,700 nights (+61.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 5,700 registered bed nights (+13.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 330 (+363.9 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 6,000 (+18.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 93 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 69.1 percent were domestic, and 30.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 3.0 nights (-0.35) and foreigners 1.0 nights (-3.0).

Between January and March, 70,200 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa (-68.9 %).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent
A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 920 percent
There was a total of 11,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (March)
The number of foreign visitors in March was -890 (-359.3 %). Out of them -1,000 were on a daytrip and 118 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and March was -2,400 (-197.8 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in March was 89,300 euro (-100 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 132,000 euro and day visitors -42,600 euro. Between January and March the consumption was 23,800 euro.
