Lovisa Region: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased 51 percent (March)
In March 2021, 1,800 bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (+51.0 %), of which 1,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 40 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 63 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 64 percent. In total, bed nights increased 51 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (34 nights).
780 nights (+60.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,000 nights (+44.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 5,000 bed nights (+30.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 74 (-91.1 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 5,100 (+9.1 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

510 tourists arrived to accommodation (March)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 38 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 3.5 nights (+0.19) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+1.6).

26,800 Russian travelers via eastern border (March)
A total of 26,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 1,100 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 38.5 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (March)
The number of foreign visitors in March was -183 (+74.8 %). Out of them -150 were on a daytrip and -33 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and March was -790 (+91.9 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in March was 16,300 euro (-89 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 23,000 euro and day visitors -6,700 euro. Between January and March the consumption was 44,800 euro.

Accommodation sales 119,000 euro (March)
Total accommodation sales in March were 119,000 euro (+60,600). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 20.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 93,800 euro (+50,800) and non-registered sales 24,800 euro (+9,800).
Total January-March sales were 432,000 euro and they increased 124,000 euro from the previous year.
