8,700 bed nights in paid accommodation (August)
Total of 8,700 bed nights (-6.2 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Lovisa Region in August 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 69 % and non-registered 31 %.
Between January and August, the number of paid bed nights was 36,000 (-10.5 %). Share of registered was 62 % and non-registered 38 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
6,000 registered bed nights (August)
In August 2022, 6,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (-20.0 %), of which 4,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 101 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 20 percent from last year's August.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (360 nights).
2,400 nights (-56.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,500 nights (+82.3 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 20,600 registered bed nights (-19.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,900 (-60.6 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 22,500 (-25.9 %) registered nights.

2,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (August)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 56.4 percent were domestic, and 43.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 3.7 nights (+0.51) and foreigners 1.1 nights (-3.0).
Domestic visitor days increased by 2 percent (August, Loviisa)
In August 2022, 170,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa (+2.2 %).
Between January and August, 1.2 million domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa (+11.1 %).
The number of visitor days means the total number of days spent by domestic tourists in the area. The tourist must stay in the area for at least half an hour to be counted. They are also not counted in the statistics if they visit the area regularly.

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 250 percent (August)
A total of 129,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 330 percent (June)
There was a total of 12,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.5 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption (August)
The number of foreign visitors in August was 1,700 (+1,025.4 %). Out of them 147 were on a daytrip and 1,500 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and August was -4,900 (-99.9 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in August was 658,000 euro (394 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 623,000 euro and day visitors 34,900 euro. Between January and August the consumption was 866,000 euro.

Accommodation sales 450,000 euro (August)
Total accommodation sales in August were 450,000 euro (-68,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 16.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 378,000 euro (-94,400) and non-registered sales 72,000 euro (+26,400).
Total January-August sales were 1.6 million euro and they decreased 513,000 euro from the previous year.
