5,700 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 5,700 bed nights (+189.0 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Lovisa Region in May 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 87 % and non-registered 13 %.
Between January and May, the number of paid bed nights was 18,100 (+71.1 %). Share of registered was 77 % and non-registered 23 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 290 percent
In May 2021, 4,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (+292.4 %), of which 2,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 99 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 3,500 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 290 percent from last year's May.
1,100 nights (+129.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,800 nights (+396.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 9,900 registered bed nights (+54.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,000 (+330.2 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 13,900 (+89.7 %) registered nights.

1,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 240 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.3 percent were domestic, and 1.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 2.2 nights (-1.7) and foreigners 136 nights (+132).

In May 2021, 145,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa.
Between January and May, 491,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa.
The number of visitor days means the total number of days spent by domestic tourists in the area. The tourist must stay in the area for at least half an hour to be counted. They are also not counted in the statistics if they visit the area regularly.

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 24 percent
A total of 24,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 73.4 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 114 percent
There was a total of 1,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 36.4 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in May was -550 (-702.1 %). Out of them -470 were on a daytrip and -78 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and May was -1,700 (+83.2 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in May was 6,200 euro (-11 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 26,000 euro and day visitors -19,800 euro. Between January and May the consumption was 25,200 euro.

Accommodation sales 367,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in May were 367,000 euro (+262,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 345,000 euro (+263,000) and non-registered sales 22,400 euro (-800).
Total January-May sales were 1.0 million euro and they increased 524,000 euro from the previous year.
