3,400 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 3,400 bed nights (+21.1 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Lovisa Region in December 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 67 % and non-registered 33 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 59,300 (-0.4 %). Share of registered was 77 % and non-registered 23 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 32 percent
In December 2021, 2,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (+32.4 %), of which 2,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 70 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 780 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 32 percent from last year's December.
1,200 nights (+105.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 990 nights (-8.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 40,100 registered bed nights (+3.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,400 (-39.5 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 45,500 (-4.9 %) registered nights.

Length of stay was 2.7 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Lovisa Region, length of stay in December was on average 2.7 nights and in Finland 2.2 nights (-5.9 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 2.8 nights (-41.7 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-48.9 %).
820 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 38 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.9 percent were domestic, and 5.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 2.8 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.33).

A total of 37,900 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 70.9 percent.

Accommodation sales 176,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 176,000 euro (+43,800). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 15.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 148,000 euro (+45,200) and non-registered sales 27,900 euro (-1,300).
Total January-December sales were 3.3 million euro and they increased 104,000 euro from the previous year.
