3,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 3,000 bed nights (-36.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Lovisa Region in April 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 66 % and non-registered 34 %.
Between January and April, the number of paid bed nights was 11,600 (-7.3 %). Share of registered was 64 % and non-registered 36 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
2,000 registered bed nights
In April 2022, 2,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Lovisa Region (-49.3 %), of which 1,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 65 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 95 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 49 percent from last year's April.
1,300 nights (+15.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 720 nights (-74.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 7,200 registered bed nights (-4.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 145 (-90.0 %) for foreigners in Lovisa Region, in total 7,400 (-17.9 %) registered nights.

470 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 52 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.8 percent were domestic, and 5.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Lovisa Region on average 4.3 nights (+1.4) and foreigners 2.7 nights (-10).

In April 2022, 116,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa (-2.4 %).
Between January and April, 380,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Loviisa (+10.2 %).
The number of visitor days means the total number of days spent by domestic tourists in the area. The tourist must stay in the area for at least half an hour to be counted. They are also not counted in the statistics if they visit the area regularly.

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent
A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 920 percent
There was a total of 11,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 84.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Foreign visitors and their consumption
The number of foreign visitors in April was -850 (-162.2 %). Out of them -660 were on a daytrip and -191 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of foreign visitors between January and April was -3,800 (-243.3 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Lovisa Region in April was 1,300 euro (-2 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 29,600 euro and day visitors -28,300 euro. Between January and April the consumption was -118,000 euro.

Accommodation sales 137,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in April were 137,000 euro (-136,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 20.6 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 109,000 euro (-140,000) and non-registered sales 28,300 euro (+4,100).
Total January-April sales were 518,000 euro and they decreased 140,000 euro from the previous year.
