Registered bed nights increased 22 percent

In May 2022, 39,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+22.4 %), of which 32,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 33 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 13 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 22 percent from last year's May.

8,000 rooms (+42.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 16,500 rooms (+16.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 126,000 registered bed nights (+46.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 34,500 (+80.5 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 161,000 (+53.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

22,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 112 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.2 percent were domestic, and 15.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.7 nights (-0.83) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-5.5).

89,900 air travelers

The airport received a total of 89,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 290 percent.

Of local passengers, 2.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 97.3 %.

In addition, there were 88,000 passengers departing the airport (+281.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 89,300 (+288.0 %).
