25,500 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 25,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (-20.3 %), of which 21,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 20 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (930 nights).

5,600 rooms (-15.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,500 rooms (-28.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 210,000 registered bed nights (-26.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,700 (-77.2 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 240,000 (-42.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

13,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 31 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.7 percent were domestic, and 11.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.8 nights (+0.18) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.87).

The airport received a total of 17,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 67 percent.

Of local passengers, 0.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 100.0 %.

In addition, there were 17,600 passengers departing the airport (-66.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 35,000 (-66.9 %).
