18,800 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 18,800 bed nights were recorded in Luleå (-47.8 %), of which 15,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 48 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 47 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 48 percent from last year's March.

3,400 rooms (-52.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 8,900 rooms (-48.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 68,500 bed nights (-15.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,300 (-12.2 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 83,800 (-15.2 %) nights.

Total of 2.8 million bed nights (-37.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 405,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

11,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 50 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 86.1 percent were domestic, and 13.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.6 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.33).

24,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 24,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 54 percent.

Of local passengers, 4.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 95.4 %.

In addition, there were 22,000 passengers departing the airport (-58.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 46,500 (-56.5 %).
