Registered bed nights increased 40 percent

In September 2021, 35,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+39.8 %), of which 29,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 34 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 70 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 40 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,100 nights).

7,400 rooms (+30.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 15,900 rooms (+38.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 239,000 registered bed nights (+14.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 56,500 (+84.1 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 296,000 (+23.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.1 million registered bed nights (+30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+24.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 723,000 nights (+65.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

17,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 28 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.7 percent were domestic, and 17.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.0 nights (+0.23) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.34).

51,300 air travelers

The airport received a total of 51,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 46 percent.

Of local passengers, 1.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 98.4 %.

In addition, there were 49,600 passengers departing the airport (+42.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 52,200 (+48.1 %).
