Registered bed nights increased 138 percent

In December 2021, 29,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+138.0 %), of which 23,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 119 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 250 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 138 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,300 nights).

7,700 rooms (+112.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,200 rooms (+140.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 327,000 registered bed nights (+25.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 77,700 (+95.5 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 404,000 (+35.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.9 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

17,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 171 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 79.9 percent were domestic, and 20.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.6 nights (-0.27) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.1).

64,700 air travelers

The airport received a total of 64,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 220 percent.

Of local passengers, 3.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 96.5 %.

In addition, there were 63,000 passengers departing the airport (+220.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 64,100 (+213.3 %).

Registered January-December sales were 218.4 million SEK and they increased 61.1 million euro from the previous year.
