Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In September 2018, 35,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+6.6 %), of which 30,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (700 nights).

6,300 rooms (+7.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 16,200 rooms (+4.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 262,000 registered bed nights (+10.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 131,000 (+18.4 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 394,000 (+12.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (-0.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.3 million nights (-1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (+2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in September was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (+0.8 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.9 nights (+2.6 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+3.0 %).

18,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.3 percent were domestic, and 10.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.9 nights (+0.14) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.05).

The airport received a total of 112,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased two percent.
