Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased four percent

In December 2018, 28,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+3.5 %), of which 23,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 12 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's December.

6,600 rooms (+19.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 11,200 rooms (+5.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 344,000 registered bed nights (+9.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 151,000 (+22.4 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 495,000 (+13.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (+3.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in December was on average 1.5 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.5 nights (+2.5 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+6.2 %).

18,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.0 percent were domestic, and 16.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.5 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.11).
