Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In March 2019, 35,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+8.1 %), of which 29,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (1,200 nights).

6,900 rooms (+7.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 17,000 rooms (+20.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 81,400 registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 17,500 (+1.9 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 98,900 (+6.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (-3.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (-1.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 888,000 nights (-12.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in March was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-4.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.7 nights (-3.0 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-3.5 %).

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 85.2 percent were domestic, and 14.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.21).
