Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In June 2019, 52,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+23.2 %), of which 35,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 17,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 22 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's June.

8,100 rooms (+2.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,100 rooms (+14.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 170,000 registered bed nights (+10.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 48,600 (+12.1 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 218,000 (+10.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay increased 22 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in June was on average 2.9 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+4.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.5 nights (+6.1 %) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+10.7 %).

18,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 75.8 percent were domestic, and 24.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.5 nights (+0.48) and foreigners 4.0 nights (+0.61).

102,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 102,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased four percent.

Of local passengers, 12.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 87.8 %.

In addition, there were 97,700 passengers departing the airport (-1.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 93,200 (-3.2 %).

Registered January-June sales were 132.0 million crowns and they increased 15.5 million crowns from the previous year.
