Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In June 2019, 52,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+23.2 %), of which 35,300 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 17,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 24 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 22 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (6,600 nights).

8,700 rooms (+9.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,700 rooms (+18.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 170,000 registered bed nights (+10.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 48,600 (+12.1 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 218,000 (+10.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

26,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 69.0 percent were domestic, and 31.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 1.9 nights (+0.19) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.19).

52,100 air travelers

The airport received a total of 52,100 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased three percent.

Of local passengers, 12.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 87.5 %.

In addition, there were 49,500 passengers departing the airport (-4.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 102,000 (-3.6 %).
