Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 37 percent

In August 2021, 52,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+36.8 %), of which 41,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 177 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 37 percent from last year's August.

9,400 rooms (+11.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 12,000 rooms (+29.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 210,000 registered bed nights (+11.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 49,800 (+86.1 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 260,000 (+21.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.6 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay increased 10 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in August was on average 2.7 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.6 nights (+37.1 %) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+111.8 %).

19,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.9 percent were domestic, and 17.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.6 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.88).
