Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 23 percent

In June 2022, 47,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Luleå (+22.8 %), of which 32,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 15,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 23 percent from last year's June.

8,300 rooms (+17.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 14,100 rooms (-5.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 159,000 registered bed nights (+37.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 49,800 (+74.0 %) for foreigners in Luleå, in total 209,000 (+44.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 6.9 million registered bed nights (+39.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.2 million nights (+17.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+259.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Luleå out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

Length of stay was 2.4 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 36 percent compared to earlier year. In Luleå, length of stay in June was on average 2.4 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-13.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.2 nights (-31.4 %) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-53.5 %).

19,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 92 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 75.9 percent were domestic, and 24.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Luleå on average 2.2 nights (-1.1) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-4.7).

The airport received a total of 43,900 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 31 percent.

Of local passengers, 6.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 93.7 %.

In addition, there were 43,400 passengers departing the airport (+29.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 87,300 (+162.2 %).
