6,300 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 6,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-61.0 %), of which 5,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 41 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 83 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 61 percent from last year's September.

4,600 nights (-64.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,700 nights (-49.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 61,600 registered bed nights (-35.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,200 (-86.8 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 72,800 (-59.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Maarianhamina out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.5 %.

3,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 63 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 80.0 percent were domestic, and 20.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 1.7 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.18).

980 air travelers

The airport received a total of 980 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 66 percent.

Of local passengers, 13.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 86.5 %.

In addition, there were 960 passengers departing the airport (-65.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,900 (-65.8 %).
