8,700 registered bed nights

In June 2020, 8,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-71.9 %), of which 8,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 310 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 56 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 97 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 72 percent from last year's June.

6,200 nights (-78.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,500 nights (-2.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 16,700 registered bed nights (-63.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 7,300 (-77.9 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 24,000 (-69.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.1 million registered bed nights (-50.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-36.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 50,900 nights (-91.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Maarianhamina out of total registered bed nights was 0.8 % (-0.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

4,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 71 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 1.8 nights (-0.15) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.13).

2,100 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests decreased 13 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 11 congresses organized (-9.0) in 2019.

780 air travelers

The airport received a total of 780 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 69 percent.

Of local passengers, 13.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 86.5 %.

In addition, there were 720 passengers departing the airport (-69.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,500 (-69.7 %).
