8,400 registered bed nights

In October 2019, 8,400 bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-14.2 %), of which 4,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased four percent and foreign bed nights decreased 24 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 14 percent from last year's October.

6,800 nights (-9.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,600 nights (-30.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 99,800 bed nights (+1.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 88,800 (+0.3 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 189,000 (+0.9 %) nights.

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Maarianhamina out of total bed nights was 0.5 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

5,200 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 53.1 percent were domestic, and 46.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 1.6 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.07).

2,100 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests decreased 13 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 11 congresses organized (-9.0) in 2019.

2,400 air travelers

The airport received a total of 2,400 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 10 percent.

Of local passengers, 29.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 70.4 %.

In addition, there were 2,200 passengers departing the airport (-20.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 4,600 (-15.4 %).
