640 registered bed nights

In April 2020, 640 bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-93.5 %), of which 350 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 290 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 94 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 94 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 94 percent from last year's April.

149 nights (-98.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 500 nights (-73.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 7,600 bed nights (-52.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,900 (-41.7 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 14,500 (-47.6 %) nights.

Total of 190,000 bed nights (-88.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 173,000 nights (-85.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 16,800 nights (-95.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Maarianhamina out of total bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.7 %.

155 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 97 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 91.6 percent were domestic, and 8.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 2.5 nights (+0.85) and foreigners 23 nights (+21).

2,100 international congress guests in 2019

The number of international congress quests decreased 13 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 11 congresses organized (-9.0) in 2019.

420 air travelers

The airport received a total of 420 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 81 percent.

Of local passengers, 46.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 53.2 %.

In addition, there were 400 passengers departing the airport (-80.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 820 (-80.8 %).
