10,000 registered bed nights

In April 2019, 10,000 bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-9.9 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 16 percent and foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, bed nights decreased 10 percent from last year's April.

8,100 nights (-7.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 1,900 nights (-18.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 15,800 bed nights (-1.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,800 (+4.0 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 27,600 (+0.5 %) nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 54.6 percent were domestic, and 45.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 1.6 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+0.06).

The number of international congress quests decreased 13 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 11 congresses organized (-9.0) in 2019.

2,200 air travelers

The airport received a total of 2,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 23 percent.

Of local passengers, 22.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 77.6 %.

In addition, there were 2,100 passengers departing the airport (-23.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 4,300 (-23.1 %).
