2,400 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 2,400 bed nights were recorded in Maarianhamina (-62.6 %), of which 1,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,200 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 63 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 62 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 63 percent from last year's March.

1,400 nights (-68.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 990 nights (-50.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 7,300 bed nights (-30.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,600 (-9.5 %) for foreigners in Maarianhamina, in total 13,800 (-21.6 %) nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 66 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 56.2 percent were domestic, and 43.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Maarianhamina on average 1.6 nights (-0.01) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.33).

The number of international congress quests decreased 13 percent from the previous year.

There was a total of 11 congresses organized (-9.0) in 2019.

1,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 1,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 32 percent.

Of local passengers, 41.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 58.3 %.

In addition, there were 1,100 passengers departing the airport (-46.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,500 (-38.5 %).
