Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 12 percent

In June 2019, 208,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malmö (+11.6 %), of which 135,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 73,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (18,000 nights).

62,200 rooms (+14.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 53,900 rooms (-0.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 650,000 registered bed nights (+4.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 276,000 (+2.3 %) for foreigners in Malmö, in total 926,000 (+3.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.9 percent

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malmö out of total registered bed nights was 2.9 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.7 % and foreign bed nights 3.5 %.

Length of stay increased five percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. In Malmö, length of stay in June was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+4.2 %).

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 1.8 nights (-0.2 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+2.9 %).

108,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 68.0 percent were domestic, and 32.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 1.8 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.15).

89,700 air travelers

The airport received a total of 89,700 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased one percent.

Of local passengers, 52.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 47.2 %.

In addition, there were 95,300 passengers departing the airport (-2.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 185,000 (-1.6 %).

Accommodation sales 110.9 million crowns

Registered accommodation sales in June were 110.9 million crowns (+10.3 million).

Registered January-June sales were 558.6 million crowns and they increased 17.1 million crowns from the previous year.
