Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased six percent

In November 2019, 163,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malmö (+5.8 %), of which 120,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 43,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased three percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's November.

45,500 rooms (+20.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 66,400 rooms (+4.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and November, 1.4 million registered bed nights (+8.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 636,000 (+9.7 %) for foreigners in Malmö, in total 2.0 million (+9.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 4.5 percent

Total of 3.6 million registered bed nights (+3.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.9 million nights (+5.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 731,000 nights (-6.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malmö out of total registered bed nights was 4.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.1 % and foreign bed nights 5.9 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Malmö, length of stay in November was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 1.8 nights (+0.6 %).

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 1.6 nights (-0.3 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+4.9 %).

96,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.3 percent were domestic, and 22.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 1.6 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.01).

78,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 78,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 10 percent.

Of local passengers, 39.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 60.9 %.

In addition, there were 76,000 passengers departing the airport (-9.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 154,000 (-9.4 %).

Registered accommodation sales in November were 112.6 million crowns (+13.1 million).

Registered January-November sales were 1.1 billion crowns and they increased 90.7 million crowns from the previous year.
