30,000 registered bed nights

In April 2020, 30,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malmö (-80.4 %), of which 26,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 76 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 92 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 80 percent from last year's April.

7,900 rooms (-80.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,500 rooms (-81.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 284,000 registered bed nights (-26.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 92,800 (-37.5 %) for foreigners in Malmö, in total 377,000 (-29.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.4 percent

Total of 1.3 million registered bed nights (-70.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-65.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 114,000 nights (-88.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malmö out of total registered bed nights was 2.4 % (-1.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.3 % and foreign bed nights 3.3 %.

Length of stay increased 30 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 30 percent compared to earlier year. In Malmö, length of stay in April was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.5 nights (+16.7 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 2.3 nights (+9.3 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+6.7 %).

13,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 85 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.6 percent were domestic, and 11.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malmö on average 2.3 nights (+0.56) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.62).

1,500 air travelers

The airport received a total of 1,500 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 98 percent.

Of local passengers, 75.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 24.4 %.

In addition, there were 800 passengers departing the airport (-99.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,300 (-98.6 %).

Registered January-April sales were 243.1 million crowns and they decreased 81.0 million crowns from the previous year.
