Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In March 2021, 140,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malung-Sälen (+7.7 %), of which 139,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 84 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (220 nights).

9,700 rooms (+23.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 880 rooms (-60.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 382,000 registered bed nights (-0.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,300 (-90.8 %) for foreigners in Malung-Sälen, in total 388,000 (-12.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.9 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+11.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 218,000 nights (-46.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malung-Sälen out of total registered bed nights was 4.8 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay increased 11 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. In Malung-Sälen, length of stay in March was on average 11 nights and in Sweden 3.2 nights (+21.8 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malung-Sälen on average 11 nights (+35.9 %) and foreigners 9.2 nights (-58.5 %).

12,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.7 percent were domestic, and 1.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malung-Sälen on average 11 nights (+1.6) and foreigners 9.2 nights (-22).
