Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 39 percent

In May 2021, 11,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malung-Sälen (+39.2 %), of which 10,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 110 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 39 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 33 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 39 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (35 nights).

840 rooms (+16.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 660 rooms (+38.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 471,000 registered bed nights (+12.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 6,500 (-88.8 %) for foreigners in Malung-Sälen, in total 477,000 (+0.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malung-Sälen out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.0 %.

Length of stay increased 29 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 29 percent compared to earlier year. In Malung-Sälen, length of stay in May was on average 4.8 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malung-Sälen on average 4.9 nights (+35.5 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-60.0 %).

2,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.1 percent were domestic, and 1.9 percent were from foreign countries.
