Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 39 percent

In December 2021, 107,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Malung-Sälen (+38.9 %), of which 96,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 10,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 28 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 580 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 39 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (7,500 nights).

8,100 rooms (+51.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 980 rooms (+49.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 783,000 registered bed nights (+17.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 30,900 (-50.5 %) for foreigners in Malung-Sälen, in total 814,000 (+11.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.2 percent

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Malung-Sälen out of total registered bed nights was 3.2 % (-1.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.8 %.

Length of stay was 11 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Malung-Sälen, length of stay in December was on average 11 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-24.9 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malung-Sälen on average 10 nights (+14.7 %) and foreigners 19 nights (-75.1 %).

10,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 39 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.7 percent were domestic, and 5.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Malung-Sälen on average 10 nights (-0.44) and foreigners 19 nights (+6.2).
