Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In February 2023, 4,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Mariestad (+13.8 %), of which 3,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 480 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 27 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 35 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (200 nights).

1,200 rooms (-8.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,200 rooms (+50.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 6,500 registered bed nights (+34.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 900 (-29.1 %) for foreigners in Mariestad, in total 7,400 (+20.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.5 million registered bed nights (+20.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+17.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 756,000 nights (+32.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mariestad out of total registered bed nights was 0.1 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Mariestad, length of stay in February was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 1.7 nights (+4.0 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mariestad on average 1.7 nights (-1.4 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (+8.3 %).

2,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.1 percent were domestic, and 12.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mariestad on average 1.7 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-0.03).
