Registered bed nights increased 63 percent

In September 2020, 10,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Mariestad (+63.1 %), of which 9,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 970 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 74 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased two percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 63 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (420 nights).

1,600 rooms (-2.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 1,100 rooms (-27.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 99,900 registered bed nights (+3.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,000 (-76.3 %) for foreigners in Mariestad, in total 105,000 (-10.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-30.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-19.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 441,000 nights (-61.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mariestad out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

6,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 45 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.9 percent were domestic, and 7.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mariestad on average 1.7 nights (+0.18) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.57).
