Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 42 percent

In August 2021, 33,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Mariestad (+41.9 %), of which 28,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 27 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 330 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 42 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (2,400 nights).

3,700 rooms (+36.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 800 rooms (+11.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 123,000 registered bed nights (+36.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,900 (+219.0 %) for foreigners in Mariestad, in total 136,000 (+44.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Mariestad out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Mariestad, length of stay in August was on average 5.5 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mariestad on average 5.2 nights (+11.8 %) and foreigners 7.7 nights (+68.9 %).

6,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 40 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.2 percent were domestic, and 10.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Mariestad on average 5.2 nights (-0.29) and foreigners 7.7 nights (+3.6).
