13,600 registered bed nights

In February 2020, 13,600 bed nights were recorded in Meri-Lappi (-8.8 %), of which 8,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 34 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 38 percent. In total, bed nights decreased nine percent from last year's February.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from China (880 nights).

7,200 nights (-8.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,500 nights (-8.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 14,600 bed nights (+24.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,400 (-8.1 %) for foreigners in Meri-Lappi, in total 29,000 (+5.7 %) nights.

Market share 0.7 percent

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (+7.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 611,000 nights (+1.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Meri-Lappi out of total bed nights was 0.7 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

9,300 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 64.2 percent were domestic, and 35.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.4 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+0.21).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 834,000 euro (-76,200).

Registered January-February sales were 1.8 million euro and they increased 37,500 euro from the previous year.
