Registered bed nights increased 15 percent

In September 2021, 17,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Meri-Lappi (+15.0 %), of which 14,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 15 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Spain (350 nights).

5,900 nights (+40.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,000 nights (+4.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 86,200 registered bed nights (+31.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,300 (-62.8 %) for foreigners in Meri-Lappi, in total 95,500 (+5.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.1 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+21.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 204,000 nights (+121.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Meri-Lappi out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 1.1 %.

9,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 63 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.8 percent were domestic, and 10.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.7 nights (-0.62) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-2.9).
