Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased seven percent
In March 2018, 14,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Meri-Lappi (+6.6 %), of which 8,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's March.
7,300 nights (+32.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,100 nights (-11.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 19,600 registered bed nights (+11.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 19,600 (-1.9 %) for foreigners in Meri-Lappi, in total 39,200 (+4.4 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Meri-Lappi, length of stay in March was on average 1.3 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-0.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.4 nights (+6.1 %) and foreigners 1.3 nights (-2.8 %).
10,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 59.9 percent were domestic, and 40.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.4 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 1.3 nights (-0.1).
