Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased three percent
In February 2019, 15,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Meri-Lappi (+2.8 %), of which 6,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 8,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's February.
7,900 nights (+5.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,100 nights (-0.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and February, 11,800 registered bed nights (+7.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 15,700 (+13.0 %) for foreigners in Meri-Lappi, in total 27,400 (+10.7 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Meri-Lappi, length of stay in February was on average 1.4 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.3 %).
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.4 nights (+2.1 %) and foreigners 1.4 nights (+13.4 %).
10,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 41.7 percent were domestic, and 58.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Meri-Lappi on average 1.4 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 1.4 nights (+0.18).
